Harriet Unsworth

Dr Harriet Unsworth leads the Digital Cancer Research team at the CRUK National Biomarker Centre, University of Manchester. She was Co-PI on the UpSMART programme to digitise early phase cancer clinical trials, and community lead for CRUK’s Community of Special Interest for public involvement and diversity in data-driven cancer research. Her career has spanned the academic and public sectors, where her work has had national impacts on digital and AI healthcare. She co-authored the NICE Evidence Standards Framework for digital health and care, acted as technical lead for NICE’s first digital evaluation programme, and served as a committee member for the first British Standard on AI in health and care, BS30440. In addition to these impacts, Harriet’s academic publications have been cited over 600 times. She has a PhD in molecular biology and an MSc in data science and artificial intelligence.
